Michael Ned Holte is a writer and independent curator based in Los Angeles. He teaches at the California Institute of the Arts, where he is currently an Associate Dean of the School of Art. His critical essays have appeared in periodicals such as Afterall, Art Journal, East of Borneo, Frieze, Poetry, and X-TRA; he has written monographic essays on artists including Fiona Connor, Charles Gaines, Richard Hawkins, Shio Kusaka, Roy McMakin, Steve Roden, and Shirley Tse. A book, Good Listener: Meditations on Music and Pauline Oliveros, is forthcoming from Sming Sming Books. He has previously organized two exhibitions by Aram Saroyan, at Commonwealth & Council in 2016 and as-is.la in 2020.
